Installment agreements gained a state that comes before the IRS has acted on them.
  • New status value: Requested. A request for the agreement has been filed with the IRS and it has not answered yet. It becomes Pending or Active once the IRS acts, and existing values are unchanged. See Installment agreements.
  • Read startDate and coveredPeriods differently on a Requested agreement. startDate is the date the request was filed rather than a date the IRS posted, and coveredPeriods are the periods the request asks the agreement to cover rather than periods the IRS has established. On every other status both keep their existing meaning.
  • No breaking change. Agreements you already receive are unaffected. If your integration switches on status, add Requested to it — a client that treats unknown values as an error will otherwise reject a taxpayer who has one.
